Freezing is an understatement.

This is a new series of mine-

The weather is extremely cold when:

Breathing out side hurts.

Washing hands in the bathroom sink at the institute is a five-minute long process because the water was so warm.

Walking to class takes twice as long due to slick (sexy) boots and cautious foot placement.

The roommates and I gather around the space heater and the oven like a fireplace.

Turning the temperature up to 50 degrees was like living in a sauna.

The giraffes on my rice bag have began to wear off.

Going outside is not an option - not even for necessities of life (party supplies).

I just have to keep reminding myself that I chose this school. I don't like the cold.

My Monday Morning.

This story is so good it doesn't even need a picture.

The following is my Monday Morning Marvels- catchy isn't it? Well I hope you "marvel" at how cool I am after you read this lovely post of mine. It is great I promise.

(I will write it in chronological order just so you get a feel for my life on this most recent Monday morning)

5:52 a.m.
I finally got out of bed after snoozing my alarm once and taking what energy I had to get out of the warm covers that protect my body through the night.

6:03 a.m.
Exercise- it was an elliptical day.

7:07 a.m.
Return home. Shower- if I didn't shower now I was going to have to wait in line. Besides the earlier I shower the longer my hair gets to dry and the less time I have to spend blow drying it- BONUS.

7:34 a.m.
Homework.

9:00 a.m.
The process of getting cute began. My hair was curled, make-up done, and my outfit was complete with a scarf, skinny jeans and I wore my sexy-boots (mind you they don't have the best traction).

10:14 a.m.
I left my house.

An amazing morning, wouldn't you agree? well now my story begins:

As I walked down the stairs of my apartment I could hear the Aggie Shuttle Bus pull up to the bus stop. The air was brisk and the snow that was fluffy and fresh last night has turned slushy. Logan is cold in November. . .scratch that, Logan is cold all the time. And today was no exception.

The line at the bus stop was long like it is most Mondays at 10:15 a.m. When I saw this I slowed my pace down some. The road that the bus stop is on is up a small but steep hill from my apartment complex. It is one of those "landscape" hills that are put in for merely design purposes. I walk up this hill every morning when I catch the bus so I started my trek up the slope.

My first step was slippery, but I gracefully regained my balance.

I continued on. . .

Second step wasn't so smooth- The line feeding into the bus had about five people left. Slight panic set in.

Third step in my slick, sexy boots was fatal. (I maybe exaggerating with my word choice here because I didn't die, in fact I am still very much alive.) I went down on all fours, and I wasn't even half way up the hill yet.

Gaining traction I stood up but I didn't dare move fearful of returning to all fours. I scanned my surroundings. The line was now entirely on the bus, but not everyone was seated yet. I still had time.

I stepped to my side. Back to all fours- at that moment I became the master at the downward facing dog

I couldn't stand up and progress up the hill. No matter what I did or how hard I tried I couldn't do it.

The bus driver was looking at me, and I could see a few passengers press their faces against the glass to see what the hold up was.

By this point all panic was gone and the only thing I cared about was dominating this hill. . . but yet I still hadn't made it half way.

I began "stink-buggin'" it. . . Yes, I stooped that low. I dug my fingers into the muddy ground that was beneath the slushy sheet of snow and did my best to shove the toe of my boots into the ground as well to keep me from sliding.

Almost to the top.

The ground was frozen here.

I started to slide.

The bus driver smiled, I couldn't help but laugh at my situation.

I slide farther backwards.

Determination masked by desperation took over. I stretched out for the bus stop sign in a last attempt to save myself. I knew that if I couldn't reach it I would slide back down the hill and I would be defeated. But it was my only hope.

I dove low for the sign's pole. My fingers slid against it's metal surface, but I latched on. By this point I laid flat on the ground. I could feel the slushy snow seeping through my clothing.

I stood.

"Glad you could make it," the bus driver said. He smiled.

I laughed and thanked him as I entered the doors of the bus.

Then there was an applause.

The passengers who had witnessed the show outside the bus windows were also praising me.

So, I bowed.

Marvelous morning, wouldn't you say?

How about a cup of cake?

I made cupcakes yesterday for my visiting teaches
I decided to put the frosting in a ziplock bag and then cut off the tip to swirl the frosting on.
They looked beautiful.
I was kinda happy about how they turned out!

O and they tasted simply marvelous!- Huge Plus!

I didn't have any cupcake jackets (liners) for the pan,
so some of the cake cups didn't come out so smooth-
Instead of letting the cake crumbs go to waste we decided to just stir in some frosting.
Mmmm. so good!
One day we are going to crumb up a whole cake, stir in frosting, freeze it and eat it.
I think it sounds delicious!

Welcome to Logan:  Yesterday I played softball out on the lawn.  It was such a lovely afternoon!  And then I went to an outside dance party. . . Today it is snowing.  Happy Finals Week to be!

Sno-Cattin' Adventure (mind you no boy/husband talk included)

BEWARE: picture OVERLOAD! (yes, each picture deserves to be large and centered!)

Okay now for the story. . . not that each picture doesn't speak for itself.
. . . . .
Friday before Spring Break I loaded up my roommates, Aubrie and two of the J3 boys- Eric and Tyson. The Durango was packed, but we got off in really good time.  See we had to leave decently early because Shay's prom was that night, and yes we went to watch- (where I come from the whole community goes to WATCH prom, but that is another story)

Saturday we ventured up into the mountains.  My pa had agreed to take us all up on the Snow Cats.  Long story short it was a new experience for everyone!
Quick shout out to Pa, Weston and D!  Thanks for playing tour guide!

RECAP of the weekend:
(no particular order)
  • Eric went up in the mountains with a broken leg. . LOTS OF PAIN
  • Played in the snow all day long!
  • Rode Snow Cats
  • AMAZING food (thanks Ma!)
  • My friends got to see what it is like where I grew up
  • Everyone fell in love with my kids
  • Sleepovers on the floor
  • LOTS OF DRIVING!

I missed lots of important details - this is true. . .
But I would need a whole day just to relive those little moments.
Really- the weekend was just SIMPLY MARVELOUS!

Read Kellie's two-bits
of the glamorous weekend!

and I thought this was bad. . .

I have driven from Logan home
three times in the past two weeks.
Pretty sure I could do it with my eyes closed
. . . doesn't mean I want to try it.
I took this picture driving home last night.
I wish the roads had been this good all the way home,
maybe then it would have only taken me four and a half hours.

Surprisingly it wasn't too hard for me to drive slow on the way home.
(background: I like to get places quickly- I speed. . .too much sometimes)
Having my little girls in the car though
made it really easy to take my time.
I am so thankful we made it home safe.
Even if it did take almost twice as long.
Counting my blessings!

Vehicle: 2004 Suburban (mom's)

Passengers: Lulu, and Jaders (fell asleep as soon as we got in the car)

Driver: Me

Number of seat belts worn: three

Road conditions: terrible

Lowest speed on I-15: 0 mph

Highest speed on I-15: 60 mph

While I was driving this is what I heard going on in the backseat:

Jades, "what if a lion was lying? (giggling)"
Lulu, "yep."
Jades, "Halee, knock knock"
Lu, "Who is there?"
Jades, "Lion"
Lu, "Lion who?"
Jades, "Rawr! because that is what Lions say."
Lu, "Okay" (while texting boys on my phone)

Love these girls.

sleep, The lack of.

Current Song playing on ipod: It's Raining Men
Current location: Living room
Current time: 2:55 AM February 20, 2011
Notice: my hair is crazy- as I get older and older it grows more curly. . . does this mean I am going more boy crazy?  or just crazy in general?  I like it though- it makes it easy and FAST to do . . . for the most part-  Thanks head for growing hair that is a little bit wild-  It makes my life interesting and gives me a chance to mix it up! (:

Good thing it is Sunday tomorrow- I can have a nap. . . (ya right!) .  I should be in bed, but I am not tired, not that I have tried to go to bed.  I bet if I laid down I would fall asleep- o well, sleeping is good but I will sleep when I get old!
It is freezing cold in our basement- It is snowing outside and I keep hearing the snow plows drive down the road.  I bet the plow-drivers are way tired and their wives are anxious for them to return so that they can sleep well again and not rustle around restless in their beds searching for the warmth of the man that lays beside them.
As soon as I fall asleep I know I am going to have to pee-  I am currently drinking a large glass of milk to wash down the Cadbery Mini Eggs that I have been snacking on all evening!  They are so amazingly good- definitely worth peeing my bed for. . . maybe not.  Gross- sorry for that image.  For the record I haven't peed my bed since I was eight years old.  I know, that is quite old to be peeing the bed I remember begging my mom not to tell anyone- especially my younger sister.
Wow, this post
is going in so many
different directions. . .
sorry about that!

This next week is going to be huge!  My friend Tyson is running for Programming VP up at the school! Dah!  nervous!  He asked me to be his campaign manager even though I have no idea what is going on! I feel like an underdog!  Maybe, just maybe we will pull through though- my fingers are crossed!  I have been designing some things and painting signs and talking strategy with Tyson.  I think he has a pretty sweet plan and it may just work!
If you are a student
enrolled at Utah State
Please vote for Tyson!
After all every vote counts
Getting all this stuff put together is reminding me of high school-
Painting all the homecoming signs, all the extracurricular activities I did, my perfectionism. . .
Yep, just like high school. . .
No sleep, lots of milk, and a messy room.

I am so glad it is a four day week next week!
Funny side note! I am going to have a longer weekend than week!
I didn't have class on Friday and there is no class Monday due to President's Day . . .
FIVE DAY WEEKEND!

Oh- by the way I would like to announce that most of my roommates (minus one) have now joined the blogging world!
I pretty much think they are amazing and I am sure you will all love them too!
Check 'em out:
  • Kellie (look our names are almost exactly alike. . except for one letter)
  • Tami (She is my room-roommate)
  • Jordan (The smart one- 'nough said.)
We have decided that we are kindred spirits. . . It is pretty legit- just sayin'

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ONE MORE THING!
If you think my blog is even a lil' bit awesome- or at least fun to read some times (especially how I miss spell and miss use lots of words) then I think you should FOLLOW it!  I know it is a HUGE commitment and everything, but it makes me feel good!  O and if you want to share my thoughts with anyone else feel free to.

Okay- I am done now, sleep is in order. . .

Spring Fever?

Sunday afternoon it was 54 degrees
Yes, it was a whoppin' 54 degrees in February
IN LOGAN none the less.
It felt like summer.

I pulled out my cut-off shorts
threw on a t-shirt
and the J3 boys joined us for a picnic on the lawn!
SPLENDID!
(I was sick with Spring Fever!)

Not even a week later we have snow
not just a skiff either
I am talking SIX INCHES (at least)

The warmth was good while it lasted.
my tulips keep me happy.

Jordan + cooking = lots of food = happy Kelsie

Next week is going to be crazy
I hope it goes by fast
I am going home next weekend!
I need to go support my LADY WOLVES
particularly my SHAY!

Besides I am her TRUE #1 fan!

. . .remember that time it snowed.

I love being home with my family.
The excitement of Christmas is real! FINALLY- I believe that it is really here!
It snowed 18 inches between Monday and Tuesday and today the schools declared it a snow day!  The first snow day in 30 years. . . Wow, I don't remember ever snowing like this. . .  And it isn't the regular "Utah-snow" it is WET and fluffy not dry and powdery.  Kinda hard to get used to.

Tuesday I babysat Bosty and Strat-man.  I guess you could say I am pretty much a pro-babysitter!

When I was ten years old I would cry to my mom because I wanted to babysit so bad and I hadn't been asked to yet.  (little did I know that babysitting was my destiny!)
I have been babysitting ever since then.  I used to baby sit my niece Halee every day while Sandi coached basketball practice. Mind you I was only about eleven almost twelve years old and Halee was a new born.  She had ear aches and would cry for hours while I watched her.  I remember crying with her in my arms, not being able to do anything, but hold her!  However we now have a deep burning bond!
I also had a few regular weekly babysitting jobs growing up and a summer babysitting job for two summers where I babysat five days a week from seven to five- those long summer days taught me so much.  I love kids.

Back to Tuesday.  There was so much snow outside that I for sure would have lost Strat if not Boston in the depths of the whiteness that I decided to bring the outside in.  I fed them SNOW-cycles.  They enjoyed it.  And I mean I found clean snow for them to eat, so it was perfect!  We also cut out snowflakes to hang from the ceiling, danced to Christmas music, drove (threw) toy cars down the stairs, and we each ate a spoonful of peanut butter!

Did I mention that I love being home?
Late last night I finally got to play in the snow!
My High School Seminary Teacher took his fourwheeler and a hose.
We (Taylor, Kaden, Kinz, Layni, Taylor T, T. and Abbie) brought sleds.

    Picture this:
Stake Center parking lot full of slushy snow.
Bro Cow driving circles with a garden hose tide to the back of his fourwheeler.
Everyone else lining up on sleds to try and grab the hose as the fourwheeler drove by.
The snow was so wet I could feel water dripping down my legs- GROSS yes, it was melted snow!
I think I was the only person to never make it around the entire loop without getting thrown, pushed, plowed off.
The hose finally broke- then it broke again, and again until there wasn't much left.
We headed for the hills!

I love the Snow when I can go play in it!
My heart is pounding with excitement!
I feel great!
I  went running again today (addicted) and I pushed myself harder and faster than I have since I have come home it felt so good!
Every time I want to stop because I "feel tired" I tell my head to shut up!
I think it would have been really funny to see me running today in the slushiness of my town!

final. finally.

I have a headache.  That doesn't usually happen to me.  Maybe it is because I have a ponytail that is too tight, or perhaps I haven't drank enough water, it could even be the stress of all the "things" I should be doing, but instead I just keep putting off. . . I guess it could be all of those things and the fact that I need more sleep. . .  Yep that is it all of it.

I gave up on the "30 Day Challenge" . . . ha I can't believe I even tempted.  There is too much on my mind that I could blog about to even waste time on some of those prompts, besides I like my own ideas better. . . end of excuses- I just straight out don't want to do the "30 Day Challenge" anymore.

Finals Week is just around the corner and I am dreading it. . . Not because I am nervous about my finals because honestly they aren't going to be dreadfully hard (well I might slightly be nervous for my ECON test, but I don't like ECON. end of story.)  I am dreading it because I want to go home.  I have a case of "cabin fever" but instead I am going to call it "Logan fever".  I love Logan don't get me wrong but I WANT TO GO HOME!  I want to watch Shay play basketball, I want to play with my girls, I want to laugh hysterically with all my friends!  I am anxious to have late night conversations with my Grandma at her kitchen table until we are both falling asleep.  I can't wait to sleep in my own bed and do laundry whenever I want AND PAY NOTHING (I am so sick of trying to scrounge up all the quarters I can- such a pain).  I want to take pictures, I want to paint, I want to sleep in my own bed, and not have to worry being the first one up to get a hot shower.  I can't wait to be home so that I can spend the afternoons with my mom talking about boys, school, my siblings, and anything else that I have missed out on while I have been away to school. . . .I wish FINALS week could be canceled, that way I could be on my way home tomorrow!  (one more week, I can do this). . . I will also be missing "The Forgotten Carols" this year because of finals week.  I was distraught when I found out that it was the Tuesday of Finals. . . I even considered driving down Tuesday and coming back Wednesday, but that wouldn't work, I have two study sessions that night.  BUM!

So I may be slightly irritated today- but just slightly. . . I call days like these my "Kelly Clarkson Days" because all I want to do is listen to her CD and sing about the power of women and the stupidness of boys -- (to all those "male" figures that read my blog, don't take offense- I need a release and so I took it out on the male population.  I feel better if that counts for anything?)  And while I was singing my little heart out I cut snowflakes, lots and lots of snowflakes!  I made a snowflake mobil and then we put some of them on our wall. . . Now that is a funny story:

Funny Story:
So a few weeks ago, like the first of November we had a party.
We invited some of our neighbors over to eat food and well to make friends.
The party was a hit! (I have become quite the party thrower)
Anyhow we have a small hallway that leads to our kitchen. .
The group of people were swarmed in the kitchen and this hallway.
One of our guests rested his foot up on the wall
and well to cut to the chase his foot went through our wall . . .
Mind you this was no little fellow, but a shoe size of 14 footed fellow.
Poor kid felt so bad, but luckily we have it mostly fixed.
(I made a video of the fixing processes that I still need to post- thanks for the help Sam.)
We now have a wall now, but it hasn't been textured or painted yet.
So to hide the uncoloredness of the wall we put snowflakes on it.
Good idea huh!  Thank you!

snow.

Hello snow.  I do love you- only sometimes though.  However, I DO NOT like what you bring like the COLD weather, the ICY sidewalks, and the MISERABL-ity of it all that every storm brings.  I do enjoy hot coco, scarves, gloves, warming my body by the fireplace, and the holidays that come with the season!
It snows a lot more in Logan than it does down home, and a lot heavier too!  I like to bundle up and watch it fall from the sky from my bedroom window.
