I'm Leaving on a Jet Plane!

I was selected to attend the 2009 Spirit of America Youth Conference in Valley Forge, PA! I applied for this trip back in November, in fact I sent in my application on Thanksgiving Day! :) I had to write an essay, get two recommendations, and fill out a bunch of stuff. In December I heard from them again saying they'd like to interview me before making the last and final cuts. I loved my interview, but then again I like those kinds of things!
I got my congratulations letter today in the mail. I had gotten a bit nervous and really antsy because my friend, Eric, who also applied got his letter yesterday. I had figured that I must not have been accepted, but I still had a glimmer of hope left in me. I can't wait for the trip. Yes, it's true I won't know anyone I will be going with (Eric is going with a different group, at a different time.) I am excited though. I am excited to meet new people and to be more independent. This will be a great experience for me and I'm looking forward to the adventure. I will also have firsthand knowledge of Valley Forge and the history around it. (I love love love history! In fact I want to be a history teacher!)

Wow! That will be so much fun. When do you go? Valley Forge isn't too far from us.

That is so awesome. I went on that trip too....that's where I met Cade :) So trust me you will make some life long friends. Seeing Valley Forge and touring around there and learning about all the history is great, but meeting all the new people is even more fun. I loved every minute of that trip and I hope you do too. Have fun.
